The Cats protection League is a non-profit organisation set up to help homeless cats.

In Wellington there are two CPL shelters. One is on Ohiro Road in Brooklyn, the other is in Pukerua Bay. Both are dedicated to helping cats, Many of the cats are brought in by people. Some of the reasons people take their or others cats are, Owners going overseas, behavioral problems, Owners going into care, Owners cat not getting along with other pets or children. Some reasons are quite sad.

Cats that are brought into the league are NOT put down after a specific time period. The only time a cat is put down at the league is if it is in alot of pain and distress and it CANNOT be helped, if a cat can be helped it will be.

The official website of the Cats Protection League INC. is http://www.cats.wellington.net.nz

I have worked at CPL for a few years now, It has given me invaluable experiance on my road to becomming an animal behaviorist.
